সিলিন্ডারে কার্বাইড এবং পানি দেওয়ার পর বিশেষ সতর্কতা অবলম্বন করতে হবে যেন স্টপ কক (Stop cock) খোলার আগে এবং বার্নারের মাধ্যমে বাতাস সম্পূর্ণরূপে বের হওয়ার আগে সেখানে কোনো খোলা শিখা বা আগুন (Naked light) আনা না হয়। বার্নারের ছিদ্রটি সবসময় যেকোনো ধরনের বাধা বা ময়লা থেকে মুক্ত রাখতে হবে; এই পথটি পরিষ্কার রাখার জন্য সরবরাহকৃত স্টিলের প্রিকার (Steel pricker) ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
