লেবার সর্দারদের (শ্রমিক দলের প্রধান), যারা বিভিন্ন গ্যাং বা দলের দায়িত্বে থাকবেন, তাদের অত্যন্ত সতর্কতার সাথে নির্বাচন করতে হবে; কারণ তাদের অধীনে কর্মরত শ্রমিকদের নিরাপত্তার প্রাথমিক দায়িত্ব তাদের ওপরই ন্যস্ত থাকবে।

Labour sardars, who will be in charge of gangs, must be carefully selected, as they will be primarily responsible for the safety of the men working under their orders.

ভারী মালামাল স্থানান্তরের জন্য নিম্নলিখিত নির্দেশাবলীর প্রতি বিশেষ মনোযোগ দিতে হবে:

Special attention should be given to the following instructions for handling heavy materials.

(ক) কাজটিকে সহজ ও সুবিধাজনক করার জন্য যখনই সম্ভব স্লিং (ঝুলন্ত দড়ি), বাঁশ, তক্তা ইত্যাদি সরঞ্জাম ব্যবহার করতে হবে। অতিরিক্ত শারীরিক ধকল বা চাপ ছাড়াই কাজটি সম্পন্ন করার জন্য পর্যাপ্ত সংখ্যক শ্রমিক নিয়োগ করতে হবে।

(a) Appliances such as slings, bamboos, planks, etc to faciliate the work should be used whenever possible. Sufficient number of men should be employed to handle the job without unduly straining themselves.

(খ) শ্রমিকদের এমনভাবে অবস্থান নিতে হবে যাতে তারা মালামালগুলো নিরাপদে নাড়াচাড়া করতে পারেন এবং কাজে নিয়োজিত কোনো ব্যক্তির নিরাপত্তা বিঘ্নিত না হয়। সর্দারকে নিজে এমন একটি উপযুক্ত অবস্থানে থাকতে হবে যেখান থেকে তিনি শ্রমিকদের স্পষ্ট নির্দেশ দিতে পারেন, যাতে তারা সবাই একযোগে ও সমন্বিতভাবে (in unison) কাজ করতে পারেন।

(b) The men should be so placed as to be able to handle the article safety, without endangering the person or any of those engaged on the job. The Sardar should place himself in a suitable position to give clear orders to the men to ensure that they work in unions.

(গ) আকারে ছোট কিন্তু অত্যন্ত ভারী এমন কোনো মালামাল স্থানান্তরের সময় যদি শ্রমিকদের চলাচলে বিঘ্ন না ঘটিয়ে পর্যাপ্ত সংখ্যক শ্রমিককে উপযুক্তভাবে মোতায়েন করা সম্ভব না হয়, তবে অবশ্যই বাঁশের স্লিং ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

(c) When handling any heavy material which is small in size , bamboo slings must be used if it is not possible to suitable arrange the required number of men without cramping their movements.

(ঘ) যেসব মালামাল অতিরিক্ত ঝুঁকি ছাড়া শ্রমিকদের দ্বারা স্থানান্তর করা সম্ভব নয়, সেগুলোর জন্য সর্বদা ক্রেন ব্যবহার করতে হবে। ক্রেন টিন্ডাল (crane tindal/চালক বা অপারেটর) নিশ্চিত করার জন্য দায়ী থাকবেন যে মালামালটি সঠিকভাবে স্লিংয়ে আটকানো হয়েছে এবং পিছলে যাওয়া বা পড়ে যাওয়ার সম্ভাব্য বিপদ এড়াতে শক্তভাবে বাঁধা হয়েছে। মালামাল ওপরে তোলার বা নিচে নামানোর সময় সমস্ত শ্রমিক যাতে নিরাপদ দূরত্বে অবস্থান করেন, তাও তাকে নিশ্চিত করতে হবে।

(d) A crane must be used at all times for materials which cannot be handled by men without undue risk. The crane tindle will be held responsible for seeing that the material he is handling is properly slung , and securely tide to prevent slip and possible danger of the load falling . He will also sue that all men stand sufficient clear during the process of hoisting or lowering the load.
