সপ্তাহের সাত দিনের জন্য প্রতিদিনের কাজ একটি নির্দিষ্ট রোস্টার ঘণ্টা অনুযায়ী নির্ধারিত হয়। সাপ্তাহিক মোট কাজের সময় বা ডিউটির ঘণ্টা সংশ্লিষ্ট আইন (যে আইনের অধীনে কর্মীরা নিযুক্ত আছেন) দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়।

Each day's work consists of a certain number of roster hours for the seven days of the week, the total weekly hours of employment being controlled according to the act under which the staff are employed .

যেসব রানিং শেডে বিদ্যুৎ বা যান্ত্রিক শক্তি ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং যেকোনো একদিন ২০ জনের বেশি কর্মী নিয়োজিত থাকেন, সেগুলো ফ্যাক্টরি অ্যাক্ট (Factories Act)-এর অধীনে পড়ে। তবে এই শেডগুলোতে কর্মরত কেবল অল্প কিছু শ্রেণীর কর্মী এই আইনের আওতাভুক্ত হন; বাকি কর্মীরা এবং যারা কাজের সময় সংক্রান্ত প্রবিধান (Hours of Employment Regulations)-এর অধীনে নিয়োজিত আছেন, তারা অবিচ্ছিন্ন (Continuous) অথবা খণ্ডিত (Split) শিফটে কাজ করেন।

Running sheds , which utilize power and employ more than 20 men in any one day, come under the Factories act, but only a few classes of staff working in these sheds are governed by this act, the rest of the staff employed in these sheds , or in those coming under the Hours of Employment Regulations , work either in continuous or in split shifts.

কাজের সময় বা ডিউটির ঘণ্টা অবশ্যই প্রদর্শিত রোস্টারে নোটিশের মাধ্যমে জানিয়ে দিতে হবে।

The hours of duty must be notified on the rosters displayed for the purpose.
