সমস্ত 'এ' এবং 'বি' শ্রেণীর উদ্ধারকারী ট্রেনে মেডিকেল ভ্যান যুক্ত থাকে। এই ভ্যানগুলোকে ট্রেনের লাইনে এমনভাবে সাজিয়ে (মার্শাল করে) রাখতে হবে যাতে মূল উদ্ধারকারী ট্রেন ছাড়ার আগেই মেডিকেল ভ্যানটিকে তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে দুর্ঘটনাস্থলে পাঠিয়ে দেওয়া যায়। মেডিকেল ভ্যানের সরঞ্জামাদির দায়িত্ব উদ্ধারকারী ট্রেনের সদর দপ্তরে নিয়োজিত অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট সার্জনের ওপর ন্যস্ত থাকবে।

Medical Vans are provided in all A and B class Relief Trains. These vans are to be kept marshalled in such a way that the medical van can be despatched immediately to the site of accident even before the main Relief Train leaves. The equipment of the Medical van is in charge of the Assistant Surgeon posted at the head quarters of the Relief Trains
